Prayer Meetings – A Strategic Focus

Everyone is invited to be a strategic part of the Allegheny West prayer ministry. Join us on the first Sunday of each month at 4PM EST on zoom.

“The purpose of our prayer time is to seek and follow the heart of God.  We want to examine what the Holy Spirit brings to the table, and pray over where the Lord is leading in the Global Methodist Church,” said Cindy Harvel, who is coordinating the prayer meetings.

Leadership is shared by East Ohio, West Ohio, and Western Pennsylvania.  At each one hour prayer meeting there is a chosen speaker who determines the topic or theme.

“Topics and special prayer focus comes from leadership in the GMC, with attention to the prayer points, and specific needs of what is currently in need of “bathed” prayer as churches, pastors, and congregations transition from the UMC to the GMC,” said Harvel.  A prompt email reminds participants of who the leader will be for that month.

Meetings generally follow this pattern:

  • A short time of a concert of worship and praise, with everyone praying aloud or silently as they choose at once
  • A small focus time from the leader highlighting the theme and topic(s) of our time of prayer
  • A time to pray aloud one at a time for each topic mentioned by the leader only from those who feel led to pray aloud
  • Closing with the Lord’s prayer in unison.
